Greenland Wujiang Waterfront City

Wujiang, China 2011

Inspiration for this design concept is derived from the slender form and cultural significance of Bamboo. The project, situated at the waterfront of the new Wujiang Waterfront City in a premiere site, features an elegant tower with 753,474 sf (70,000 sm) of office space, 538,195 sf (50,000 sm) of service apartments, and a 430,556 sf (40,000 sm), 5-star hotel. Vertically, the tower is defined by three segments based on the program. The tower’s tapered form emerges from the wrapping of a continuous core element with the differing functions, resulting in a very efficient plan at each function level. In contrast to the tower, the podium building is distinguished by simple horizontal massing culminating with a sweeping curved roof. The podium building contains 645,835 sf (60,000 sm), primarily devoted to retail space.
