PORTMAN’S TOMORROW SQUARE PROJECT FEATURED IN SAN FRANCISCO AIRPORT MUSEUM EXHIBITION
The Exhibition focuses on Western Architecture’s Influence on the Shanghai Skyline
ATLANTA, GA – May 5, 2010 - John Portman & Associates, Inc. (PORTMAN) is pleased to announce the inclusion of our Tomorrow Square project in
"Shanghai: High Rise Architecture and the Remaking of China's Gateway to the World," an exhibition currently on display in the International
Terminal of San Francisco’s Airport. San Francisco and Shanghai are sister cities, and this exhibition is just one event taking place
throughout San Francisco, commemorating Shanghai’s hosting of the 2010 World Expo.
The Museum chose Tomorrow Square as an example of Shanghai’s distinctive high-rise architecture. The gallery includes a scale model of the
project, along with architectural drawings, renderings, and photographs featuring the finished building in the Shanghai skyline. The exhibit
will be on display until October 2010.
PORTMAN has long had ties to both San Francisco and Shanghai. San Francisco is home to some of our firm's most recognized projects, such as
Embarcadero Center and the JW Marriott hotel in Union Square. We were also one of the first Western firms to do business in modern day Shanghai,
and our work there continues with three of our designs currently under construction -- Jin Hongqiao International Center, the Waldorf Astoria on
the Bund, and Portman House | Jian Ye Li.
