Built in 1990, the San Francisco Fashion Center is a six-story, 740,000-square foot (68,800 sm) building with the capacity for 450 exhibits. A faade of brick with repetitive steel sash windows allows the structure to blend into the neighborhood, which was once a manufacturing district. Decorative architectural accents and light fixtures near the roof plane and at the pilaster base provide a classical relationship with earlier periods of San Francisco architecture. Inside, the Grand Atrium Theater soars five-stories high, bathing the interior in rich natural light.
